Tea

Tea is the second-most consumed beverage around the world by volume – after water! Yet, despite enormous global demand, most producers receive extremely low prices for their crops, and the beverage is considered a low price/low value indicator by many retailers. The tea sector faces daunting economic challenges stemming from climate impacts, low tea prices, rising production costs, pests, shifts in worker availability, and more. Rainforest Alliance certification supports farmers in turning their farms into profitable, resilient businesses that respect workers and the land.

The Rainforest Alliance has been a catalyst for the farm’s sustainability journey since 2008, since our certification program has promoted better practices across the sector at large. We work with farmers and companies in the tea supply chain, governments, civil society, and millions of individuals to protect forests and biodiversity, act on climate change, and promote the rights and improve the livelihoods of rural people. Together we can change the way the world produces and consumes bananas and create a world where people and nature thrive together.
